Are all of your diamonds considered conflict-free?
We work closely with all of our diamond providers to assure that all of our diamonds are Kimberly Process Certified, which means that they have been certified conflict free.
Do you appraise jewelry?
Currently we offer free appraisals with all items purchased at Reuven Gitter Jewelers. We are able to appraise some items, however if we feel that for whatever reason, we are unable to offer an appraisal to the standard you require, we can refer you to several appraisals we work with frequently. We are also able to send both diamonds and colored stones out to be graded in a laboratory setting at your request.
How does the process of custom making jewelry work?
Making a custom piece can begin a number of ways. It can be as simple as taking a pre-existing piece in our store and having us redesign it with a few modifications, or it can be as personalized as bringing in an idea, photo, or sketch, and having us custom create a piece from the ground up.
In order to custom make a ring from scratch, the first step is to create the initial design. This can be done either through drawing or through a computerized CAD rendering.
Once the design is finalized, a jeweler's wax is created. This is a true-to-life wax replica of the finished piece, minus the set stones. Although waxes look slightly heavier than the finished piece, due to the way they're created, they are a good way to check for any changes that need to be made with either the design or the sizing.
If the wax is approved, we take it into casting, which means the wax design is cast in the metal of your choosing. From here, the stones are set and the ring is cleaned and polished one last time, and any last minute details, such as hand engraving, are applied. The finished piece is now ready to present, and is ready to be a treasured heirloom.
How does the price of custom work compare to that of a pre-made piece?
As it is pre-made for you, custom work does command a premium above the price of items out of the showcase. Although custom prices are primarily based on the cost of materials and labor, more complicated pieces will be priced accordingly.
Do you have a return policy?
At Reuven Gitter Jewelers, we offer a 30 day return policy on pieces purchased from our showcase. If you wish to return a piece of jewelry during the 30 days after your purchase, we ask that you return the piece, in its original condition, along with the corresponding invoice. There is no return policy for custom work - custom work is custom made for you, and we therefore cannot offer any returns or exchanges.
Do you have an upgrade policy?
When a diamond is purchased from Reuven Gitter Jewelers, the full purchase price of the diamond may be applied towards a different diamond at a later date if the owner chooses to upgrade. We do not offer any sort of upgrade policy for the setting.
What form of shipping do you use?
Depending upon the value of the piece, we use Fedex Overnight, Fedex Second day, or Registered Mail
Are your shipments insured?
Yes, all of our shipments are insured from the time they leave the store until the moment they reach your hands.
